Last Brittany Ferries Reviews from Trustpilot

This is an outstanding company. The staff are excellent, polite, professional and a credit to the company. They are paid well and the company has not opted to use crews from port countries in order to pay less and reduce working conditions. Despite having a monopoly on board prices are very reasonable. The quality of the food is excellent. Over the years new ships have added new and innovative services. As a regular user to Spain I am very grateful that my journies are taken with what I believe to be the best Ferry Company in Europe.

Cabin 0986 on Galicia from Portsmouth to Bilbao had excessive noise and vibration in the cabin during the entire trip. Others had same problems in cabins at the rear of the ship. BF unable to offer alternative on this trip or on our return on the same ship. You take a chance on cabin allocation when booking as cabin number is not given until you've paid. Booking staff are very helpful when you finally get through. We've been offered £50 of our next trip. I'd prefer BF to deliver the relaxing experience they promise Lucy, Thanks for your prompt response. I stated in my review that no alternative was available. The best offer for the return trip was an inside cabin which is not what we wanted

Tried to tentatively book in advance this year with B-F, June through to November, from Bilbao and Santander to Portsmouth. On each journey I tried, they only offer 4 berth cabins with no option for 2 berth cabins, not even commodore/club cabins. Furthermore, cannot book a sailing after End of October/November. I am a solo traveller and, reluctantly, happy to buy a 2 berth cabin but this option is no longer available and they are making it so difficult to even get a booking. They only seem to want customers on their terms. That’s a monopoly when no other company is a competitor.

Whilst the Galicia is a modern and very clean boat it unfortunately lacks the facilities and ambience of Brittany Ferries older boats. A major disappointment, and frankly in this day and age wholly unacceptable, is the fact that there is no lift to the outside deck 10. It is only accessible via stairs. It means anyone in a wheelchair (like one of our party) is excluded. Also children in buggies or anyone that cannot manage the stairs cannot go out on that deck. Bearing in mind it is a new boat, there is no excuse for not designing the ship with lifts to reach the top, especially when it is has been done on their older boats. We are very unhappy about this and we were not alone. In addition there is not one focal entertainment area on this boat like the others. The public areas are very clinical and lack cohesiveness and togetherness. As a result there isn't much in the way of entertainment as the small "stage" has been added as an afterthought, between the seats on one side of the boat. Anyone sitting on the other side, or slightly away, is unable to see it. Therefore the entertainment is mostly in the form of quizzes. Certainly the two entertainment personnel, particularly the man, were very good, doing their best with very limited material to work with and they should be commended, but it did make the journey drag. On Brittany Ferries ship Pont Aven there is a cinema for instance, as well as a piano bar. That is their flagship boat, of course, but even their older and more basic ships that we have been on have had better shops, entertainment and entertainment areas. Making you feel like you are on a cruiseship as opposed to on a posh ferry like Galicia. Re the shop, on other Brittany Ferries it has been possible to buy good quality chilled foods (with a French twist) and heat them in the microwave on the boats. This is particularly useful if you are travelling with a passenger who has to have their meals pureed like us and cannot eat sandwiches and baguettes. The shop on Galicia has no such options. Instead one has to eat in one of the two restaurants. The Tapas restaurant is pot luck as you cannot guarantee there will be suitable foods, and the main restaurant, which has traditional well cooked French fare, was very expensive. €21.50 for a main dish at lunchtime. To be fair both restaurants were expensive. We managed to get our dinner meal included in our ticket price which was our saving grace. As I say the food was good but, again, the ambience was ruined by towers of dirty dishes and trays being clattered and moved by staff in the middle of the restaurant. Basically with Galicia, Brittany Ferries have sacrificed facilities to cram in more people as it certainly isn't a small ship. It is a real shame as there is something special about being on the sea and having experienced three of their other boats we can see the difference in this one. S

I used to be a great fan of Brittany-ferries. The cruise trip from either Bilbao or Santander to Portsmouth was alway enjoyable. I am a solo traveller and used these routes to visit family in the UK. The option to fly was so much less expensive, however, a road-trip combined with B-F was always a pleasant experience. Trying to book a crossing now seems virtually impossible. They only offer 4 berth cabins, access to the Commodore lounge is not available and they want over £900 for a return journey, excluding cabin. I have tried several dates to get a booking but, with the same problem. Only 4 berth cabins available, Commodore lounge full and not available and sky-high prices. I cannot believe that all 2 berth cabins are sold out on every trip I tried to book. This option was not even showing as available or “sold out”. My last trip in December 2021 had everything available, however, now This year only 4 berths available, and I have tentatively booked for several dates, but still no 2 berths. What is going on?
