Slow Stressful Service, Sad UX

So I bought the most expensive Flyfin package, and FYI, I learned that if I’m an individual, the US tax deadline is April 15, but if filing as an S Corp, the tax deadline was March 15. It all started when I reached out to them for help after March 15, and they told me I was already late to file and would have to pay a $220 penalty, which is understandable, since that was my mistake to just assume taxes would all be due on April 15. Then they gave me an erroneous toll free number to call. When I called that number a message said this IRS phone number is for tax professionals only, so it seems like really my accountant should have called on my behalf, since she had that phone number and knew what to do, but she decided to pass the burden to me, someone who just got here and doesn’t understand the process. I was on hold with the IRS for an hour before I finally gave up. My accountant wrote to me “your penalty will go up if you don’t act in March,” but she never specified when the penalty would actually go up or what the next amount would be. She didn’t even tell me why I was calling the toll free number until I myself googled IRS penalties and learned what my options might be to get this fee waived. My accountant never specified when to call the IRS- because it makes no sense to call about waiving a penalty fee before my taxes have been officially submitted, which is another thing I had to learn by googling myself because my accountant didn’t give me any details. Often, when I would submit a question or request to fix an error that FlyFin made on my tax form, I get a response 1-2 days later, which really stretches out the time it takes to file my taxes. So It’s now April 1. Today I’ve written several pleading emails to FlyFin, since there’s no number to call to get in touch with a real human being who can help me get clarity in real time, which is so frustrating. I had also previously submitted a question about a very big and obvious deduction (sending refunds to my clients and whether I should even include them in my Gross Income), and the FlyFin interface makes it seem like they completely ignored my question, because the accountant never answered my question and closed that case, so I don’t even know if the deduction was included on my tax return form that I signed. I also do not know whether the tax return form was automatically submitted immediately after I signed. The experience feels like a mess because the Flyfin interface is so condensed. They make you do everything through an app on your phone, including uploading statements, which is so insanely inconvenient that they don’t have a desktop computer interface for their clients to use. I’m willing to work with them and update this review if my situation straightens itself out, but right now I’m extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this service because it just doesn’t feel like a real accountant is there to help me. It makes me feel like a burden or just another number on someone’s overloaded to do list. I’m just sitting here worrying, ready to submit my tax forms ready to talk to the IRS to avoid further penalties, but I’m just being left to fend for myself and look for answers on google, because no one is around to answer my questions during the day on a Monday.
