Great service and food

I am now on my second year of using the Spot X unit. I am amazed at the amount of negative reviews on Spot as I have not have issues with customer service, payment, texting, tracking, custom messages, etc. Unit has performed above expectations but yes, their is a steep learning curve and I think that is why it gets bad reviews. When I first bought the unit, I studied the manual and found various instructional videos online and it all came together. I am definitely pleased with the unit.

This is mostly a update. I hear a lot of bad mouthing about the customer support. Today I was struggling with the replacement device I had received for free (the old device had lost its power cover, no more than that, and customer service sent me a whole new device). After a few minutes of not being able to find the right page to swap old device registration for new, I called the UK help number and it answered in a minute. This was after the auto Q and A process (press 1 for .....) the lady answering was very helpful, I explained and she completed the process for me. Excellent. I am now back up and running. The slowest response I have ever had was to a email query, which took 18 hours to get a full and complete answer. Totally recommended.

Findmespot and spot Gen3 and X tracking devices are excellent. I have no idea why they should have such a poor rating on this site. Absolutely highly recommended. The user has to have some common sense to understand how to use the device, they are satellite tracking devices so obscured view of the sky by dense trees is a problem to be aware of. However other than that they are ideal added safety devices for being in the wilderness. I recently broke the power socket cover off my device and I was sent with zero hassle a replacement complete device. (A new cover would have been enough). I have relied upon these devices for safety tracking in remote locations for several years, my mum has one for here walks in local areas where other walkers are few and far between even though she isn’t in the middle of Africa every moment. The battery last for several days on all the devices but we found the Gen3 lasts easily for a couple of weeks without swapping batteries. The X is about 10 days on 10min beacon settings.

Outstanding equipment and service. We have both the spot x and the gen 3. This kit is a absolute life saver, it’s piece of mind so you can be tracked, it has search and rescue, the battery on the gen 3 allows ages and ages of use. With the ability to swap out the AAA cells. The X has a built in battery that has lasted me easily 10 days on 2.5min and 10min settings. The tracking package I guess could be cheaper but the search and rescue element is extremely cost effective. It’s completely independent from the mi lie phone network and although it could be a short while to get the message through via the satellite it certainly will if you press the SOS button. If your unable to press the SOS button due to being unconscious, this at least helps to give friends and family an idea of where you are so searching is reduced. Based in the UK but travelling in several countries alone in areas with very few people, and often with zero mobile coverage for days on end. This is a fantastic and considering the cost, it’s amazingly worth it.
