Expedia Group – Cashback, Rebates & Rewards

I have just attempted to book a hotel through Global Hotel Card (Expedia) and found two problems. Firstly, the cost of the room is slightly higher than the hotel website, not by much. However, the total was £78.00 more due to taxes added on at the payment page, taxes that do not apply in the UK. The hotel is in Edinburgh , Scotland and I live in the UK which obviously includes Scotland. In this country the hotel rooms include any taxes when quoted (as on the Expedia website), but as Expedia are involved with Global Hotel Card, Expedia should be aware of the additional taxes of approximately 20% applied in my view illegally for UK users. Update - I have contacted the company by email and received a lack lustre response. I have asked again for clarification as to why they charge taxes and fees not applicable in this country and as yet I have not had a response.

Terrible. Bad experience. So you go to one of the expedia run websites Global Hotel Card you find a hotel to book based on the dates you enter. summary window shows your stay is for 3 nights. Great. You press book and you are shown a different price. Turns out the price is per night not per your selected dates. Very bad. For that unaware they would get charged differently than what is shown on screen

Scammers!!! We booked a hotel through hotels.com and they showed great pictures online but the hotel was in fact not even close to what the pictures showed! It was a complete scam!!! We called and the only thing they offered us was not even 10% of what we paid in discount for our next booking!!!! We e-mailed them all the pictures of the hotel so that they could see that it was not the same as the pictures they where showing, but they still haven't even replied...and this was 3 weeks ago 🤬. STAY AWAY!!!

Since you're the parent organization, I'm leaving my review here too. The refund operations aren't functioning at CheapTickets. They were refunded our tickets (full amount), but they never paid them back to us. It's been ~9 months now. They also stopped responding. During my trip in Lisbon, I was faced with a medical emergency and I had to extend my stay. I was able to locate this not so cheap supposedly luxury apartment. I booked it on October 28 to checkin on October 29. Once the money was paid and deducted, I tried to reach the host several time during the day to no avail. The next morning, I called the host repeatedly without any answer. I have spent almost 50 Euro just for calls to the support in VRBO. At times, the line would cut off only to start the process again. You are welcomed by first line support agent that just follow procedural work without paying attention to what you are saying. Next, I went to the property and we rang the door, to my relief the owner opened the door and let us in. I said we are here for a reservation. He looked at us in astonishment. What reservation? we showed him the confirmation with the address and everything. He said i don't rent my property and this is wrong. This is when i discover that I got scammed. Not only VRBO had no idea that they are hosting a fake property, the support kept on telling me that I have to wait till 4 PM which is checkin time and to call the host. I said what property? there is no property and the host doesn't exist his line is closed and it is all fake. She said sorry but that the process. I lost it. I take matter further and call the police. they came to the location, checked my reservation and confirm with the man in the apartment that this is not true. they take all the details from the reservation confirmation to the amount and all the details. I am with 3 family members and without any place. I am trying to find a place and deal with a refund request / with the most insensitive company i have ever worked with. Agents are completely inhumane and with out any empathy. They have to wait for the approval from the team to escalate calls. They give u unacceptable answers. As a customers, I am not supposed to understand the inner working of this company. I expect my problem to be solved. If i ask for a refund for failure to provide an advertised service for fraudulent reason then that\s the least i should get. This is a company owned by Expedia. It is Finally 4 o'clock i call VRBO and i said just give me my refund and stop this abuse of customer trust. they kept transferring me to different location and without any success so far. I am planning to escalate this further with my bank along all evidence of scam. Bottom line AVOID THIS COMPANY, THEY LEAVE YOU HANGING DRY in EMERGENCY CASES!
