Last Don Pablo Coffee Reviews from Trustpilot

Don Pablo's coffee is excellent at fair prices, but (and it a BIG "but") they have absolutely no clue when it comes to logistics. They always ship many weeks late. No matter how early you place an order it is guaranteed to come very, very late with numerous notifications not giving you any idea of when they will ship. Easily the worst service of any company we have ever dealt with.

Not only did I wait over a month to get my coffee the Bourbon barrel coffee had zero flavor.

Don Pablo has set the bar sky-high for quality and customer care! I placed an order just before Christmas, and while there was a slight delay, their customer service turned it into an outstanding experience. A friendly email explained that one item was out of stock and offered me the choice to wait or get a refund. I chose to wait—and I’m so glad I did! When I reached out later for an update, the owner himself responded quickly and explained that the beans hadn’t met their impeccable quality standards due to a challenging crop year. Instead, he offered me a premium, private-label coffee as a substitute. I accepted and received my shipment promptly. Let me tell you—the coffee was absolutely delicious! To my surprise, once the originally ordered beans met their high standards, they sent them to me for free. WOW! Talk about going above and beyond! From the outstanding bean quality to their phenomenal customer service, Don Pablo has earned my loyalty for life. Every cup is packed with incredible flavor, and their dedication to their customers is unmatched. If you’re looking for amazing coffee and a company that truly cares, Don Pablo is it.

This is a review on the Don Pablo Subtle Earth Organic Honduran single origin whole bean coffee. Over the years I have been pretty rough on Don Pablo coffees, they are just roasted way to dark for my liking and I have scored then pretty low. After a lengthy email conversation with Darron Burke the owner and chief bottle washer at Don Pablo he kindly sent me a sample and this is a review of that coffee. This coffee came packaged in a resealable Mylar foil bag with a standard degasing valve. The package had all of the important information about the coffee inside, like country and region of origin, roast date, bean and roast type and basic brewing instructions. Upon opening the bag the fragrance of the whole beans was quite pleasant slightly sweet, nutty coffee. Inspecting the beans I found a high-quality bean roasted to what Don Pablo considers a light roast, in my opinion it was more like a light medium. This sample bag of coffee was just days of it's roast day and is one of the freshest I have encountered. I let this sample bag of coffee rest for and additional 5 days before using. I ground 54 grams to my normal one notch course of medium on my Bodum Bistro burr grinder, again this coffee had a very pleasant fragrance. This 54 gram dose was brewed with 1.2 liters of cold filtered water in a Cuisinart CPO850 automatic pour over coffee maker. The aroma from this coffee was very pleasant but typical for a Central American single origin with notes of chocolate and roasted nuts. Upon cupping I found this coffee to have the same aroma, tasting this brewed coffee I found bright acidity, and a somewhat thin mouth feel not exactly tea like but close. I got flavor notes of milk chocolate and a slight walnut taste and astringency. This coffee was smooth on the palate with a medium lingering semi sweet nutty aftertaste and no bitterness. The SCA rates coffees with a cupping score of 80 or higher as high quality specialty grade coffees. Using their scoring system I rate this coffee at 86.50. It should be noted that i am not a professional coffee expert and that this score represents my opinion only. This Honduran coffee brewed a very pleasant cup of coffee and I would recommend this coffee for anyone looking to explore the specialty coffee market, it is also an excellent choice for anyone looking for a solid everyday cup. I highly recommend.

You may have seen or read some of my earlier reviews on Don Pablo coffees which I have rated them poorly. This review will actually be on Don Pablo the coffee company itself not its products. A few weeks ago Darron Burke the owner of Don Pablo reached out to me to find out why I don't really like their coffees and we had a lengthy email conversation. We came to the conclusion and understanding that neither one of us were wrong just that our taste run quite different. Our conversation ran quite deep and Mr. Burke came away with the knowledge that I actually knew what I was talking about when it came to coffee. We also exchanged stories on how we came to our love of coffee. Mr. Burke offered to send me some samples of his light roast coffees and review them I said I would be glad to. He also gave me a unique opportunity to work with him on developing new roasts for his beans again I said I would be honored. My point of this review is that while I do not like and do not recommend Don Pablo dark roasted coffees, this is a company dedicated to customer service and customer satisfaction and Mr. Burke has gone the extra mile to reach out to me and make sure I am a happy and satisfied customer. While I do not care for or like Don Pablo darker roasted coffees you all should give them a try your opinion may differ. Look for my future review of the Don Pablo Subtle Earth Organic Honduran light roast whole bean coffee.
