Clear – Cashback, Rebates & Rewards

Enjoyed clear for what it was until I got the airport and the employee asked me to get in the normal line where I could get in front of people, but essentially have to still go the normal check in process and go through dog security, which proceeded to take 30 minutes, while I saw all of the others clear members going through the fast clear check in process. I have no clue why she chose me or why I had to do that since I pay the same amount as everyone else, but it made me almost miss my flight. When bringing it up to the other airline employee in line, he responded “it’s clear, they do that kind of stuff everyday, I wouldn’t trust them.” Not going to renew.

Biggest joke at Denver airport. The regular line moves much faster every single time I have tried to use Clear. It’s not staffed and the staff they do have were obnoxious this go round. One in particular made comments to people in line who asked why it’s so much slower than the normal line with comments of “you should just go to regular line if it’s moving faster…you’re the one that chose to pay for it”. Clear needs to add staff (which would probably make their employees less grumpy and basically everyone paying for the service and waiting less grumpy) and fix their massive issues. The employee was right though—I am one of the suckers who unfortunately paid for it but will no longer be wasting money with Clear and will go for the regular line or get TSA pre check from now on.

I have had clear for several years. I went to board my flight in Denver to return to SLC. They scanned my eyes and then indicated that I needed to update my security. They scanned both sides of my drivers license and then began to ask me questions like your son B_____. How old is he. This is not something I try to remember. I was told that I failed the test and that I needed to leave the clear area. Fortunately I have a TSA Precheck. TSA was great. Clear not so much. I was told that I needed to wait 24 hours and return to the airport and try again. Its the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Singed up for this at the airport with a lot of promises of breezing through security, "similiar to TSA precheck" as the salesperson described it. It turns out this only gets you as far as the ID part. It still took me 35 minutes to get through security. For $190, this is no quicker or more efficient than the standard security line. I canceled the free trial via the CLEAR app as soon as I was through security, but was still charged the full $190 fee weeks later. I have made many attempts to contact CLEAR via phone and their email "support" with nothing more than an auto response. So far, I am on the hook for almost two hundred dollars for a service I cancelled well within the trial period, with no help from CLEAR whatsoever. My only recourse now is to dispute the charge with my credit card company, and hope they will decide on my behalf. This company is a scam, and I definitely do not feel good about them now being in possession of my personal and biometric information.

I have used Clear several times paired with preTSA and it has been fantastic! I started with a three-month free trial and, after seeing the huge convenience, I had no problem signing up for the annual plan. It saves so much time. I am able to speed through the queue and be on my way. You really notice the convenience when you are traveling with others that don't have it. I have used it at several airports and have had no issues whatsoever. It was especially useful at the McCarran International Airport which was in complete chaos. Customer service has been great, as well. When I was billed the full price and not the discounted price tied to being a Delta Skymiles member, customer service rectified the situation within 24 hours. Clear may not be for everyone but for those that hate long lines and/or travel a lot it may be worth it.
