AbeBooks – Cashback, Rebates & Rewards

I was astounded to see some of the reviews left by others! I've ordered 50+ books over the years, some old, some rare, some paperbacks and have NEVER had a bad experience. Every one of them arrived before they were expected, in the condition it was described, and when I had a question for the seller I heard back within 24 hours. AbeBooks is the BEST!

I've just read all these one-star reviews for abebooks, and I don't get it. I've made 35 purchases since 2005 -- I just went through my purchases -- and I have not had a single problem. Not one. Nothing but great service from people who clearly love books. Really, there must be something going on that these reviewers aren't telling us about, as not many of the reviews are very specific, just a bunch of unwinding.

Good books at good prices.

I've been buying books from ABEBOOKS for over 10 years and have amassed a 700+ book collection. Never, that's right, never had a problem. Books ordered always came promptly and in the condition they were advertised. Excellent.

The seller (Hawking Books, Edgewood, TX) sent us the wrong book. That wouldn't be a big deal, but we initiated a refund, wrote them a message, and never heard anything back. We followed the AbeBooks' return policy and mailed the book back. A week after it was delivered, there was still no action from them. We wrote to the seller again - and they kept on ignoring the messages. Then we wrote to AbeBooks customer support, and it was refunded within 4 or 5 days (but if the original shipping is $0, they will refund only the book price and not the return shipment, even though I sent a USPS receipt).
