Never Again!

The customer service and charging were an absolute disgrace. Between family, we booked 5 rooms for our daughter's wedding. The couple themselves didn't get their rooms cleaned once without having to complain and not always even then. There wasn't even a "welcome" fruit basket for the happy couple. Our son's family couldn't find the bedding for our granddaughter's sofa bed. When the contacted the front desk they said they'd send someone up with linen who could make up the bed and there'd be a $40 charge (plus tax of course). He informed them he'd booked for 3 people and wouldn't be paying any extra. They decided "on this occasion" they wouldn't charge "but in future" they would. If you lift (but not when you return it of course) the bottle of water or snacks from the tray on the worktop, a sensor immediately adds a charge to your a/c which you then have to resolve with reception. They hold $300 on your credit card on arrival btw. I fell down two steps in the lobby area (uniform dark flooring and didn't see them and I was stone cold sober!). Not one member of staff came to my aid or asked if I was ok. An hour later one did ask another of our group if one of us had fallen and did we want to report it. They didn't request my room number and never contacted me about it. I flew to Washington early next morning so only heard from family after the holiday was over. The moderately sized outdoor pool only has standard brollies and were lowered for H&S reasons when it was windy. There is no other shade/planting so the pool becomes unusable unless you've booked a $200 plus per day cabana. This happened on more than one occasion to our party. On another day they closed the only pool for a private function. The pool is part of the "service charge" of $38 you pay PER NIGHT (unless you book yourself directly with the hotel). The prices/tax and tipping in America are eye watering now but the Vdara left us feeling ripped off ($42 for a pin-a colada at the poolside bar). The customer service is dreadful and you certainly aren't left feeling valued or cared for as a guest. The staff come across as defensive and only capable of answering from an extremely well used script which I suspect they're only too familiar with.

My host arranged comp 1 night stay

My host arranged comp 1 night stay. on arriving at reception they said room was chargeable as their system didn’t show it as comped . I asked her to contact my Host only for her to tell me to do it , I tried to show her email from my Host and info@MGM confirming my stay as comped she refused to even look at it insisting I go away and contact my Host . I asked to speak to her supervisor who was busy . Fortunately I re emailed my Host who confirmed stay as Comped and issue resolved. It was around 14.45 that’s 15 minutes before check in time and I asked for a room assignment and was refused as there was ‘no rooms ready’ . I told her I find it difficult that a Hotel with over a thousand rooms none was available 15minutes prior to official check in time. I again asked for a supervisor and then receptionist pretending to speak to someone on the phone said ‘oh there is one room’ . I was assigned a room on 5th floor overlooking the tram line but by then I didn’t care as following day I was moving on to Wynn for 3 nights to their Tower Exec which was perfect from beginning to end.

My room was huge

My room was huge. The only thing that I didn't like was the shower floor - it looked old and rusty. Other than that everything was great. Also, I don't understand why do they use so much perfume in the lobby - it's impossible to breathe... The smell of that perfume was too sweet and strong to my taste.

Amazing stay

Amazing stay, couldnt ask for anything more. We lost our passports and the staff were so helpful in retrieving and saving them for us. Perfect location to the strip and ideal if you want to be out of it a little bit

Modern, chic oasis in a sea of Las Vegas cigarette smoke

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in, bettered only by the Langham in London. Right in the middle of the action on the border of the north and South strip and walking distance to every other major hotel in Vegas. A handy walkway takes you to the Bellagio Hotel out the back where you can catch the Cirque de Soleil show and you can walk around the courtyard to the Aria which is featured in the recent film "Last in Vegas" which has it's own casino in the lobby. It is right next to the most prestigious mall in Vegas the newly opened "crystals " which is also an architectural masterpiece in its own right rather than the boxy space you would normally expect. Intimate bar in the lobby and well appointed lifts lead to spacious and modern rooms with a bed so amazing they leave you a brochure because you may like it so much you just might want one for home. Some rooms have a view of the famous Bellagio fountain but ours didn't but the view was still panoramic enough and easily made private by the electrically operated blinds. All staff were attentive and knowledgable but the only let down was navigating the doors with our cases. Curiously the rooms did not have any tea or coffee making facilities and you have ask for them. When the kettle arrived it was an old fashioned whistling type that you have to put on the stove which was strangely out of keeping with the modernity of the rest of the hotel. It took 10 minutes to boil and we just gave up after that and didn't use it again. If you are listening Vdara please invest in some of those new fangled kettles that work on electrickery as they are all the rage here in London. If you can't do without your hot drink fix there is a Starbucks and cafe in the lobby too and plenty of taxis available to take you where you want to go as destinations in Vegas are always further than they look. We will definitely go back! A non smokers haven.
