Kobo Elipsa 2 is what I had hoped for in Kobo Elipsa 1–lightweight, ease of use, portability and agility. I am very pleased with your upgrades including the cool new case. Well done!

My Rakuten experience has been positive. Or at the very least, not negative. My order was received in a timely fashion, the product is exactly as advertised and what I expected, I paid a fair price for it, and I have not been spammed with marketing (more than I would expect). I have had no issues with the product, and so I haven't had any experience with support. But so far, I would absolutely purchase again and recommend to others.

I've been using the Kobo Forma for the past four years, which I've been enjoying. Based on that, I would've given 4 to 5 stars. BUT... Recently, I purchased Kobo's latest flagship e-reader, the Elipsa 2E, and my experience with it has been very disappointing. I can't write in the notebook or annotate an ebook without issues: 1. Palm rejection while using the Kobo Stylus 2 doesn't always work. I disabled page turns by tapping. That reduced the problem but I don't like having to swipe to turn pages. 2. When I'm writing in the notebook for about half-an-hour, straight lines forming a star appear randomly and interfere with my writing. Tapping the screen with the stylus at that point introduces more straight lines to the star. New stylus input remains blank blank and I have to exit the notebook in order for the random lines to disappear and to continue writing normally. Customer support said it's a known software issue that they're working on. I did a search on Reddit and found the someone else posted about a similar issue with the Sage months ago. 3. When I first tried to back up notebooks onto my MacBook, the back-up files from the Kobo didn't appear when I connected via USB. I had to do a factory reset for offline back-ups to work. Customer support pointed me to Dropbox back-ups, even though I specifically said I wanted to do offline back-ups. Since that's a feature Kobo advertises, I expect it to work right out of the box. 4. When I connect the Kobo Elipsa 2E to my MacBook, it doesn't always show up on the first try. I regularly need to reconnect 2-4 times. It happens on all ports, and with different cables. I don't experience this problem with my Kobo Forma, so the problem doesn't lie with my MacBook's USB ports. Customer support asked me to try different ports and to do a factory reset. Hasn't solved the problem. 5. When I annotate ebooks, sometimes the pages start fast forwarding right to the end, even if I let go and don't touch the screen. Customer support asked for a video but I don't have any yet. It happens so quickly, I haven't been able to capture that with my phone. I don't know what sets it off, so I don't know how to predict this behaviour. 6. I've also encountered complete failure of the eraser back on the Kobo Stylus 2. It randomly started marking up my ebook instead of erasing marks. Then when I tried to tap the screen to stop the behaviour, the screen started ghosting all over and froze. Customer support has yet to get back to me on this. I've sent them a video 12 hours ago. *** Altogether, I've been in contact with customer support via email for the past 11 days spanning a 1.5 hour-live chat and 14 emails. I initiated contact via live chat on the Kobo website. Their customer support staff didn't understand several of my enquiries and pointed me to resources that didn't address any of my problems. For example, when I asked for help with exporting PDF back-ups of notebooks, I received links to instructions on how to import PDF ebooks. Kobo's customer support completely missed the point. In response to my problem with the USB connection, I was told to do a factory reset, I expressed concerns about losing handwritten annotations on my ebooks (as per the manual for The Kobo Elipsa 2E, there no way to export handwritten annotations). Customer support assured me I wouldn't lose any data in the process. That advice was wrong. I lost handwritten annotations. I was then asked to restart my MacBook. At that point I had to terminate the live chat and move to email support. Since then, I've been told twice that they needed to raise things to a higher department. When I pressed the second time around and asked for clarification about that, my question was ignored. With all this to-and-fro without resolutions, I don't know if I can continue recommending Kobo to my family and friends. My father bought a Forma two years ago at my recommendation, my sister a Libra 2 earlier this year. Another friend bought a Libra 2 end of last year as well instead of a Kindle Paperwhite at my suggestion. That's how much of a Kobo fan I've been all this while. My experience with Kobo's customer support is making me reconsider that loyalty.

Great eReader! Its bigger size and the possibility of writing with it makes it wonderful!!

It makes e-book world so simple! You can search a book using key words, you receive suggestion based on your previous lectures, payment and download are very simple and I find the library well organized. Last but not least I love my last reader Elipsa2!
