Read and Consider Before Joining

Before joining, go to the App Store and read reviews. The only way to contact anyone on the Calibrate team is via the app. Personally, I have found their responsiveness to be better than many app reviewers. Still, imagine that you have a bad reaction to the medication as I did. My primary care physician is unwilling to support me because she did not prescribe the medication. That means that when I had a serious reaction, I had to request medical assistance via the app. It took hours for a response advising me that I should go to the ER. Is this the response time you want when you are very sick? Something to consider…

The only problem is trying to get…

The only problem is trying to get through the new updated app. Love my coach Mollie. Program is easy but still challenging.

Onboarding? Great. Refund? Good Luck.

Onboarding was great. Not much feedback from the medical team while they were working with my insurance, just a stream of denials. Coach was great, but I was primarily trying to get the medical support. Partway through, they shut down the web portal and the app was garbage. App is much better, but I still can't sync appointments to an external calendar. I'm not eligible for the meds through insurance, and I can't get ANY response from ANYONE regarding a refund.

Not delivered as advertised

The diet approach is very good. The coaching is decent. The physician was patient and competent. However, the support for this program is abysmal. It takes months for the support team to respond, if they even respond at all. The support is critical in this process with regard to medication. Calibrate omitted information (a diagnosis code) on the pharmacy order (that took six months to arrive at the pharmacy). There were several messages that went without response for weeks and months. There is no communication, and you cannot call anyone for help-just request help through the app, which receives no response. This service is NOT delivered as advertised. Don’t waste your time and money if you are interested in medication, a tracking app that is functional, or think you’ll need interaction from anyone but your coach.

Great program, chaotic execution

I wish this company was better at managing its resources. It's a great idea with many positives, and I believe many well-meaning people. But there are major issues with the execution. Because of the execution issues, I would recommend trying to find a local doctor who will prescribe a GLP-1 drug for you (check your insurance company's formulary to see if there is a preferred one, and get the doctor to write the script for that. Find a separate nutritionist, therapist and/or personal trainer to check in with about your health and fitness goals, sign up for the Nutrition GPA app to track your eating (it's close to the Calibrate approach), and come up with your own approach to adding mindfulness/journaling to your life. I am just finishing my Calibrate year and would like to share a few tips. First, the $25/month promise is just for your first dose. Basically, you pay Calibrate up front for the year, and then they try to get you the drug. If it comes out to more than $25 with insurance, you can quit the Calibrate program and get your program fee back from them (you're still on the hook for anything you paid for the lab tests, and the first month of the drug if you filled the Rx). The drug was way more than $25 on my high-deductible insurance plan, but I chose to continue the program and have found it well worth it. When I started, there were some delays and hiccups, but based on what I am reading here, it has gotten much worse - which is a problem, because your "year" can start before you get your meds, and although I think the program has excellent resources for learning about nutrition and other aspects of a healthy lifestyle, you probably need the meds to succeed. In terms of the program itself, you meet with your nutritionist every two weeks for 15 minutes, which is not really enough to talk through issues - one time my nutritionist lost track of time and we spoke for more like 45 minutes and did some really useful brainstorming, but most of our visits are just "do we need to update your goals for these two weeks?". But I still find it helps to keep my goals top of mind; when my visit is coming up I start reflecting on the past two weeks and how I will handle the next two, whereas without the visits I might just let life carry me off in an unhealthy direction. The content that comes with the program is terrific - I am a voracious reader of health and wellness content, and Calibrate has all the logical, science-based stuff I've read plus some stuff I hadn't. I used to love the app, but they changed it recently and now I hate it. But it lets you check off goals that your nutritionist can customize for you every two weeks, which I think is really smart and useful. There are recipes, but the format of the app makes it difficult to find and keep track of them. I have lost 20% of my body weight without feeling like I was dieting (i.e. I ate less because I wanted to, and was only moderately careful about avoiding processed/sugary crap), with minimal side effects. The GLP-1 drugs really are amazing. However, I have found that the appetite reduction wears off somewhat over time. I definitely think my appetite will come roaring back if/when I quit the drug. Overall, I'm glad I signed up with Calibrate, but I'd recommend looking for another way to get your meds until Calibrate gets its customer support and app problems sorted out. I'm debating whether I should sign up for Masters given the other reviews saying people are not getting their Rx.
