Couldn't even get onto Eurostar.

Bought two 10 day passes to travel round Europe to travel in 3 months time. Fell at the 1st hurdle when we couldn't get a seat on eurostar regardless of being very flexible with dates, 1st or 2nd class. So it didn't bode well for future journeys. Therefore we decided to cancel but found it impossible on the app. A quick email to their help centre and the refund was instantly acted upon. Great customer service but a huge flaw in the whole concept. Apparently Interrail only have a certain no. of places on Eurostar. How true is this, I don't know. Very disappointing to have to cancel as we were also going to use the glacier express in my partners native Switzerland.

I’ve needed to use the Interrail help, and the team were excellent

I’ve needed to use the Interrail help facility a couple of time with queries about using the pass. The human team are speedy, responsive and give very clear replies, much more so than many online helpdesks. I’d have given five stars if the bot had been able to help. My queries were difficult to summarise for the bot (though the humans understood straight away). I’m guessing a lot of other queries are like this- it’s a complex system- it would be nice to have the option of going straight to a human being

Terribile app to try and plan a route and to make seat reservations

This app is turning out to be a nightmare to use. We are planning a trip to France & Spain in May/June this year. Having paid nearly £800 for two tickets for a 7 day pass it is now proving impossible to book both trains and seat reservations on the trains. Some of the routes we planned two weeks ago on our itinerary using the interail app have now disappeared from the app but they are still showing on other apps such as Trainline and the Rome to Rio apps, what is going on Interail? The only train we could book the 'essential' seat reservation on is for our first trip from Paris to Bordeaux but even that has proved frustrating to book. Despite paying the extra for first class tickets the interail app does not allow you to look at a seating plan as the SNCF website does if you book a ticket directly with them but instead the interail app only allows you to book two tickets with no idea of where you will be sitting or direction of travel. The app also shows two options for first class seating but both are the same price with no explanation of the difference! We had no idea if we are going to be sitting together or not so cancelled the booking! Some of our trips on this holiday will involve up to 8 hours train travel and we would therefore like to sit together but interail makes this impossible to plan, very, very poor, even airlines give passengers a seating option! You wouldn't mind if the seat price was included within the interail ticket price but seats are an extra cost and you MUST have a seat reservation to board the train. Some of these seat reservations cost £35 each per journey and yet you don't even know where you will be sitting and if you are even together and in the same carrige! What should be a fun trip to plan is instead turning out to be a frustrating and time consuming nightmare and we haven't even begun the holiday yet! All this is made worse by the terrible interail reservation booking system with no idea of train times and routes. My advice would be to fly and drive, it might be a great idea to be green and environmentally friendly by using the train but not when it comes at this price and frustration!

Timetable change nightmare

We had an email from SNCF/DB saying that we could no longer catch our train back from Stuttgart to Paris because of "a works of the tracks". In order to resolve this, Eurail have been unable to change our booking - we can cancel at our own cost and re-book another train that has a different route and two new booking fees but they won't get involved to help us resolve this issue. This ought to be automatically refunded including the booking fee and the new route ought to cost the same as the old one given the last-minute change imposed on us. Really stressful and not empathetically dealt with.
