I find the app easy to use. Ont thing I find frustrating is that I can not make multiple bookings altogether. For example. I want to book more then 1 camp site for the same place and same time but have to book the separately. Which increases my costs.

Nice to have access to lots of sites. Easy to use- search, register and so on. Hipcamp's fees are too high, however.

We booked 7 nights at a hip camp that charged $40 a night to camp in someone's back yard with no facilities. It's extortionate but it was the week over Easter weekend and this was the only availability in the area that was pet friendly as we are traveling with our dog. I was asked by the host if our dog is good with animals, the host had detailed that sheep were on the property which would have been fine. When we arrived we found there were cats and chooks roaming the backyard and were told to keep our dog on a leash and not to mention the place was a bit of a dump. We were kicked out after one night because our dog chased the cats when we briefly had him off lead. So we had no accommodation 3 days before Easter with none available in the area so we had to beach camp for a week. The host said she would refund us then didn't and when we chased her up she only partially refunded us. Hip camp eventually refunded us after some back and forth. I left a negative but factual review of both the host and hip camp which was posted publicly and the host responded calling us morons. This seemed great to me as it demonstrated exactly what the host was like but hip camp removed both the host's response and my review because the host's response violated their terms. Apparently this is a limitation of their system but being a software engineer this sounds very much like a product strategy to remove reviews which make hip camp look bad. If the host's response violates their terms I can see no other reason to remove my review if mine was acceptable. This means that hosts can have negative reviews taken down by submitting a nasty response. It's hard to have any faith in hip camp knowing honest reviews are deleted.

We’ve booked with HipCamp a couple time and and the process has been easy. The hosts have been wonderful. Love this platform!
