Buyers Beware

Ideal for holidays. But never buy a static van. You would pay thousands for it. But lose a lot more. Watch your money just go. These are not an investment. Holiday only. We lost £25000 in a year.

Below minimum standard

We stayed at Haven - Quay West. We really look forward to this family holiday every year. This year my partner and I decided to get our own caravan to have a bit more space for ourselves and our dog. It was extremely disappointing as previously we have had no issues with the caravans we have been put in (maybe this is due to us being in a saver rather than a silver caravan this time). However this week, upon arrival there were stains on the bedding, glass marks on the bedside tables, food crumbs on the table bench’s, the tray in the oven was dirty, crumbs on the sofa, the microwave turned on but didn’t actually heat up and clumps of dust all under the radiators. I don’t know if this is because we chose a Saver caravan however we still paid £249.00 on this holiday, after this experience I’m unsure we will return with this being the standard of cleanliness.

We had no issue whatsoever with the activities and staff but….

We had no issue whatsoever with the staff or the activities and entertainment, however we feel paying £1800 for a gold caravan that had no access to WiFi or even mobile data was a huge letdown, so in the future I would seriously think about going elsewhere where WiFi was more readily available in our accommodation. Regarding the caravan itself the chairs and stools were very stained, having to also request towels was a minor inconvenience, this was exacerbated by the fact that our nearest reception (south) was shut on a Saturday evening when guests are still arriving, we then had to proceed to the front gate to get security to drop off the towels. Further more, due to hygiene a toilet brush should be in every toilet inside your accommodation. We understand that prices may be higher due to demand but the cost of basic supplies such as milk and bread shouldn’t cost you a fortune, the cost of food and drinks were also quite high in the bars and restaurants, which in fact put us off buying more than one drink of an evening, preferring to have a drink when returning to the caravan at the end of the day. A small land train of sorts would go a long way for the less mobile guests rather than having to take the car to the main Entertainment Buildings and Swimming Pool as the park is split into two areas, both buildings were near to the main entrance, the restaurants, bars and activities in the centre. It was a good 15/20 minute walk from our gold caravan to them.

Went to Caister-on-Sea Haven holiday…

Went to Caister-on-Sea Haven holiday park June 2024. Really liked the caravan we stayed in. Admittedly not much to do on the site but could of been due to date we went. Only real gripe was cobwebs in most rooms as in no top dusting done. Curtains have most of the hooks missing and on the morning we left (had to be out by 10am) the housekeeper just let herself into the caravan about 9.30ish and was indignant about the fact we hadn't left yet, she dumped the key and left. Then leaving us to feel we better leave before the 10am deadline.

Just not the same as it used to be

Just not the same as it used to be. Booked a bronze van and it’s still basic and for the price then to add strip the beds!!! Arrived and only 10 after allocated time was ready - this is good last time was over an hour as the cleaner only got to the van when we got there. Honestly 50/60 mins isn’t long enough for a 3 berth van. Given no duvet or pillows for the pull out bed and not enough entertainment passes it’s just the basics. Pullout bed people had slept on it without a sheet , horrible and no one has time to check that. Lazy river if you book 5 pm swim on a Saturday- closed as last slot!! That should be shown on booking as I paid £70 odd pounds more and I expect lazy river open unless it’s pouring down in June.
