I took Generali travel insurance through Vacations To Go for a North Atlantic cruise in June-July 2024. I became ill and had need to attend the Doctor on board who prescribed antibiotics etc. Once I returned to Australia I submitted my medical claim (August 20) and I’m still waiting now December 10. My claim was approved very quickly (September 3) and a cheque was sent. Once it arrived I found out that Australian banks no longer accept foreign currency cheques. I contacted Shanitra Coats, my claim contact, and after sending my banking details twice and proving to them I’d voided their cheque, Shanitra emailed on November 13 stating ‘a wire transfer was impending’. I’m still waiting for the money to be deposited. When I access Generali’s eClaims portal all I see is a series of the same message repeated over and over every few days since early September telling me the cheque is on its way. The latest is dated December 6. Generali and Shanitra have provided very poor service with sparse, disappointing and inaccurate/false communication.

You need to update your website to indicate clearly that "contact us" does not include an option to speak with a human. I purchased your "basic" policy to cover our upcoming four-month house rental in Florida at the suggestion of the company renting us the property. No details were asked besides travel dates and broad location (USA, Florida). Based on your reputation, I bought it and will hope for the best. Still, I wonder if I need to file a claim if I will succeed in recovering from some loss during this adventure. I appreciate your follow-up contact efforts from my comments on your website, but you need to invest in live customer service staff who can answer questions first-time travel insurance purchasers may have.
