5 star if you want to be swindled and lose all your money! I lost $18,000 in 6 months and I had invested in hundreds of big name companies like Walmart Chevron, Target. They, E*Trade tracks your account, and makes sure you buy high and sell low. It is not done in real time. And in 6 months I did not make a single dollar on hundreds of stock. Absolutely do not use their margin debt, it gives the E*trade bank free access to your account to sell stock on your behalf at a ridiculously low price, so you lose money. Your debt will be like $ 1200 and they will sell $2000 worth of stock at less than what you paid. Like Big names like Apple, like they are going out of business. They say it's cause Apple's stock might crash, so they need extra protection. And they never disclose any of this until it's to late. Recommend Morgan Stanley Smith Barney E*trade to your friends, if you don't want as friends anymore. I will never bank with this organization again and the should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission and the SEC. They make Santa proud! E*Trade sells as a retirement account when their stockbrokers are only out to swindle you. Don't believe their positive reviews, that's how I got into this mess. All lies, and I am living on a fixed income and didn't trust the stock market, but E*trade got so many glowing reviews and down goes my retirement ship, Disappointing!

Etrade is terrible. Their customer service is awful. You have to wait on hold 30-60 minutes just to talk to someone (and that's if you're lucky). I've been trying to get my account activated so I can withdraw my money. Once you're able to talk to someone they just keep saying I have to have more and more things. There is always something else. They never actually activate your account even though you've given them everything they ask for. And when you ask to speak to a manager, they say they'll have to call you back. I already fell for that trick once when they didn't call me back anywhere near when they said they would. They are just a bunch of disreputable people. I hope I can get MY MONEY out of MY ACCOUNT and never have to deal with this company and these people ever again. Update: So, I just made the changes they required and called back about half an hour later. Guess what? They require me to make more changes. This is unbelievable. Morgan Stanley owns Etrade. So, guess what Morgan Stanley? Now I'm shorting you. Your stock dropped over 5% today. Let's hope it keeps dropping!

It is not easy to down load your transaction history to look at gain/loss. It is not possible to check the option trade's trading date, cost basis and final gain loss when downloaded in to excel. Time to move on after 20+ years. Since last 2+ years it is impossible to get the trading data on website, Etrade Pro. to calculate gain/loss.

Based on the phone call we just received [Despite repeated attempts to communicate via email, they insist on calling us.], we will be moving all our current investments away from ETrade, and we will find somewhere else to invest. We will be doing this due to lack of confidence in ETrade. Allow me to illustrate. We sent paperwork to change our account (from individual to Joint) in April. Late April we received an email that ETrade attempted to contact us via phone and didn't have the right number. I replied in less than 90 minutes with the correct number. I did not receive a call (that I recognized) or nor a voicemail identifying who is calling from a given number. Two weeks later I reached out again (via email). I receive no "out of the office" notification. I reiterated my issue and asked for assistance again. No reply. Two weeks later I AGAIN reached out. No OOTO, no reply. Another week, another email. Finally my wife picks up the phone because the caller ID actually says ETrade. We get a gentleman on the phone who tells us: Jessica has been on maternity leave. Since when? How does she not have a backup? How is there not an automated reply? How does a company the size of ETrade have no processes in place? and how do they expect me to feel confident with them managing my money? We are also told: There is a backlog in paperwork Ours will be processed in order it was received ETrade can provide NO ESTIMATE whatsoever as to when the paperwork will be completed. So, not only has it been MONTHS for paperwork to process, but ETrade is so disorganized that they cannot even give me an estimate of when that paperwork will be done. We have been waiting to move my 401k from a trust that is not earning any interest. So we have now lost 2+ months of interest , or something in the ballpark of $3-5k, and they can't tell me how much more I will lose by staying with ETrade. We are cutting our losses. Would not recommend for anyone.

They ripped me off. They were supposed to pay 0.55/share on one of my stocks. Instead they only paid 0.17/share. They were supposed to investigate the correct amount to pay and proceed accordingly. Instead they dragged their feet on correction of the error. They made the phony excuse that they didn't have enough information to correct the error. Of course they did! All they needed was the name or symbol of the stock at issue. They clearly had it. By pulling up my account, they would have quickly seen the dividend payment in question. Another complaint I have is unreasonable delays getting phone calls answered which is especially severe on the weekend. I didn't discover the problem until Saturday, April 30, 2022. They were actually supposed to pay the dividend on Friday April 29, 2022 but they waited until after midnight the following day. Update on May 3, 2022: I learned that OFS Credit had limited the amount of cash disbursements. For those who wanted their dividends in cash, only 17 cents per share was paid. The remaining amount was paid in shares of stock. However, the shares of stock was not paid at the same time as the cash. It was paid on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 after 2 am. Had customer service told me that from the beginning, it would have helped. But I'm still bothered by the fact that the whole dividend disbursement was not paid on time.
