Last Cycle Gear Reviews from Trustpilot

Both Cycle Gear and Revzilla are the worst. I'm zero for two on receiving what I actually purchased. Exercise caution when buying something on clearance/discount. They'll just send you whatever looks somewhat close to what you purchased and leave you holding the bag; dealing with returns, refunds and not having the gear you need. I will not spend a single dime with them in the future. Pay the extra money and shop local. It's worth the extra cash to get what you actually want.

I called the Huntsville Alabama store and talked with Jessie about helmet intercoms. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, pointing out strengths and issues with various brands and models. I went with his recommendation and I am very pleased with the units.

I had a great experience shopping in this location White plains cycle gear. Helping me was Chris. super relaxed, patient, giving all the service needed. Thanks

I purchased Sedici helmets online from Cycle Gear. Sedici is a Cycle Gear / RevZilla brand helmet. Later I get an email asking for me to review the items I purchased. I take the trouble to write a thorough review and they don't post it. I guess they don't post reviews that may steer someone away from their products. Below is the review I attempted to post. RevZilla wouldn't post the review either. My wife and I tried Sedici Aperto helmets on before purchasing online. She chose a medium after trying on both a medium and small. I tried both a medium and a large and chose the large size. My head measures just under 22.5”. The size chart online shows I would need a medium for 22.4 – 22.8” When I tried on the medium it was too tight. I tried on a large and it was snug but not uncomfortably tight, just what I wanted. When the helmets arrived mine felt like the medium I tried on before but it is a large. Both of the ones I tried on before I did so without removing my glasses. There’s no way I can put on the one I received without removing my glasses first. Hers fit as expected, just like the one she tried on before. On both Revzilla and Cycle Gear websites if you filter your helmet search for “intermediate oval” the only Sedici that comes up is the Sedici Aperto Carbon. I believe the regular Sedici Aperto is supposed to be “intermediate oval” shape too. After taking a 2-hour ride with the helmet it seemed pretty tight on my forehead after the first hour. When we returned from our ride I went to remove the face shield to clean it. I pushed the release lever but the face shield didn’t want to come off. As there were no instructions that came with the helmet for removal of the face shield I looked online but all I could fine was info for a full-face Sedici. When you look at the release on both sides of the helmet you can see 3 clear tabs on the face shield covered by 3 black retracting tabs on the helmet mechanism. The face shield has to be one click down from fully open for the front locking tab to release, and then push the release lever. On one side of my helmet when you push the lever the 3 black tabs retract enough to clear and allow you to remove that side of the face shield. On the other side of my helmet when you push the release lever the 3 tabs don’t retract far enough to completely clear the face shield and you have to force it to remove it. I mean force it enough that I’m afraid the tabs on the face shield might break. On my wife’s helmet neither side of the face shield releases properly. Who wants to fight this every time they want to clean their face shield? While looking at the Sedici full-face helmet video I saw that it had a removable 5mm pad that allows a minor size adjustment. There is no mention of this in the material that came with my helmet but it is mentioned on the Cycle Gear and Revzilla websites. I removed the thin foam pad and hopefully this will ease some of the forehead pressure I experienced. The helmet should come with instructions for removing the face shield, removing the retractable sun visor and removing the liner. I removed the front of the liner to find and remove the forehead pad but the rear of the liner remained attached somehow. I’ll have to figure out how the rear of the liner removes later as I didn’t just want to rip it out. I guess I’ll have to figure out how to remove the flip down sun visor later because at some point it will need to be cleaned. I like the drop down sun visor even though the optical quality isn’t as good as the face shield. The tint is dark enough for me and it serves its purpose. I also like the little tab on the bottom center of the face shield to pull it down. I don’t like that the air vents won’t close but they probably flow little air anyway. My Aperto weighs 3.2 pounds according to my scales. Wind noise is about average for a ¾ helmet. We both wore Scorpion EXO 200 open face helmets for the last 11 years. They were a similar helmet in the same price range. So far my wife likes her new helmet but I like my old Scorpion better.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SHOP! I should have read the reviews about customer service before ordering from their site. They’re true! It was awful. I placed an online order, then emailed a day later asking customer support to cancel it (just following their instructions). Another day goes by, no response, so I called. Bobby informs me the order can’t be canceled because it left the facility, even though it had not shipped. 4 days go by before I received an email stating that the return was authorized, THEN another email saying the order shipped. I understand covid shipping delays, but there is no excuse for sending out a known return. Cycle Gear would rather waste a return shipping label and employees time to get a known return out the door, than to take care of an existing (and now former) customer. I would rather support a Moto store over major companies like Amazon / WalMart, but Cycle Gear and their antiquated processes can’t compete in the long term... so they lost my business. For reference, their one and only customer support rep, Bobby, doesn’t work on weekends (or Friday - Monday, apparently) so expect an untimely response, if you get one at all.
