For HEB and any other companies who think it is okay to air your Spanish TV commercials on English TV channels, I would like to inform you that the majority of Americans consider this a total lack of respect for English-speaking citizens who have fought and died for this country, especially during a time of negative backlash towards immigrants. Furthermore, your advertising is falling on "deaf" ears. We don't speak Spanish, so we have no idea what you are trying to say in your ads. So does it make sense to spend your advertising dollars this way (?), addressing only a minority of the population? It would make more sense to sell to a larger audience to increase sales, that being the English-speaking population. Since you are obviously targeting the Hispanic market, that means you don't want my money, so I will shop elsewhere. Don't be surprised if we launch a boycott of all HEB stores statewide. Also know that you are not doing your Spanish-speaking friends any favors. Learning the English language promotes acceptance by the general population of America, helps immigrants assimilate into society, and also helps them in finding better and a wider choice of employment. Do you plan on giving equal time to the Chinese, Korean, Haitian, and Nigerian immigrants by airing TV commercials in these languages also? There is a place for your Spanish language TV commercials and that place is on the Spanish TV channels. This is America and we speak English here. That is not going to change no matter how hard you try to make it happen. If you don't like it, then leave this country and move your operations elsewhere. We will not have you disrespect our country or its citizens. Either confine your Spanish commercials to the Spanish TV channels or be prepared to lose your English-speaking customers. We vote with our pocketbooks !!!!
