Thieving Employee, Dirty Floors, Stinking Room - Don't risk your safety by staying at Rodeway Inn / Choice Hotels in Hays, KS. Rodeway Inn / Choice Hotels employee broke into my room and stole my bag, clothes, electronic equipment, and personal items. The owner told me he would not help me nor reimburse me for my items his employee stole. The owner rudely told me to call the police and take care of the theft myself. I contacted the parent company, Choice Hotels and they said they wouldn't help me and that I needed to work things out with the hotel owner. I filed a police report and met with a police officer. The police officer informed me that the Rodeway Inn hotel has the most crime of any hotel in Hays, KS and the police department is very familiar with this hotel. Regarding the hotel, it is the least expensive hotel in Hays, and I discovered why. The room stinks. The bed stinks. The pillows stink. The hotel provided towel stank so badly that I felt the need to step back in the shower and shower off again. Floors are dirty and will turn your socks and feet black quickly. I knew I wasn't staying at a 5-star hotel but the employee theft, the owner's rude "customer service," the horrendous smells, the dirty floors, and the tacky room made me regret trying to save a few dollars. Don't stay here unless you want to be burgled and then have the owner berate you for being a victim. Choice Hotels, the parent company, while their customer service reps were nice, was unhelpful at best and instructed me to work things out with the Rodeway Inn manager. Choice Hotels offered me "points" as a compensation but it was a bait and switch which required me to spend more money with their company to take advantage of the "points." Don't stay at any Choice Hotels because they have proven they will protect thieving employees more than their customers.

Terrible. Claim to have shuttle and they are 12 minutes away even in horrible traffic. Never came after 80 minutes. Tried calling kept getting hung up on. Hotel nearby was nice enough to give me ride. Long line at front desk. Not the friendliest. Room was mediocre. Have the audacity to charge a resort fee on top of room. Total joke for the price

My room was FULL OF MOLD, lamps didn’t work, footprint’s (with toes even) on walls, food on walls in MANY places, dead cockroach on heater, big water spots (with MOLD) on ceiling, old hard food on floor, BROKEN FRAME ~ POKING OUT FOR ME TO CONTINUOUSLY TRIP ON, Filthy around the heater, I witnessed gurd Deals (MANY) in the parking lot in broad daylight…. My list goes on and on… I have pictures and videos… I have tried to speak with the owner Dayejayvadel but he won’t call me back… The receptionist hung up on me: Snehabadel

Rodeway inn and suites Jentzen beach, Portland, Oregon. On January 3, 2023, my family and I checked in to the Roadway Inn and Suites in Jantzen Beach Portland, Oregon for a 4-night stay while my husband attended to business in the area. The Rodeway Inn and Suites is a member of the Choice hotel chain and I have always been a massive fan of them. On the second day of our stay, my children (2 and 1) were asleep and I was waiting on my husband to come in from work when I heard the door to our room open and hit the security latch. I jumped up to let in who I thought was my husband only there was nobody on the other side of the door. I immediately eased the door shut and looked out the peephole. A second or two later a short curly haired female security guard comes peeking her head around the corner and stands there for a minute squinting at the room number plaque and then looking down at a piece of paper in her hand. She does this several times and leans forward as if listening for movement in the room. Then turns around and walks down the hall. I text my husband, immediately, telling him about this. Why would independent contractors that work for Rodeway have master key access to the rooms? The woman didn’t even knock and announce herself. They are not employees of Choice hotels. Saturday morning comes around and I am sitting there drinking coffee waiting on the rest of my family to wake up. There is a heavy knock at the door followed by a male voice saying “security”. I open the door and there are two security guards who are telling me about some handheld device they have detecting particulates of smoke from underneath our door. I am seven months pregnant, a non-smoker, and have two small children. We do not smoke in our house or anywhere else like that. And certainly would not violate the policies of the hotel. I like getting the security deposit back. Not to mention smoke rises. The hotel room would have had to be completely filled with smoke for it to be coming under the door. When I opened the door to speak with the security guards a cloud of smoke should have rolled out on top of them. We have smelled marijuana smoke and cigarette smoke on several occasions and even down by the front desk. I wake my husband up and he comes to the door telling them they have it wrong, but they refuse to listen. The security guards tell us we have to leave. My husband just shuts the door and goes about his morning routine. A few minutes later there is another knock and it is the two security guards along with a female employee of Choice Hotels. They are being incredibly ugly treating us as if we are lying criminals or, were in jail. Their tone was extremely rude and condescending. The female informs us we have 45 minutes to vacate or, she will call the police. And, they would be keeping the monies we had already paid for the room. I begin getting all of our stuff together and the monumental task of getting myself and the kids ready to leave. I am moving a bag up by the door to the hallway and go to turn around and my heel sinks down onto an exposed tack strip by the door. My husband, alarmed, comes to see what is wrong with me and inspects the tack strip and cannot believe the shape it is in there is a spot where the only thing left of the carpet is the backing. Not only is the rusty dirty nasty tack strip exposed but whoever had initially put the tack strip in place had left about a quarter of an inch of the nails sticking up as well. It would have been well known to the staff at the Rodeway Inn because this tack strip would have snatched on any vacuum cleaner that was used and it was obviously vacuumed ALOT because it was frayed badly. I am very very upset by this point and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I finish packing up our things in tears.. We had just finished and loaded up the luggage cart when the two security guards and the actual manager show up apologizing and thanking us for our patience with them, telling us we don’t have to leave. The hotel staff had placed a tow sticker on our vehicle, as well, even though they did not give us a renewed parking pass. I ended up having to go have a tetanus shot but, thankfully our babies had not stepped on the tack strip as well. We called choice hotels to voice our displeasure to them and they offered us 8,000 choice points (equivalent to $45 USD) for all the trouble and tried to upsell us a 4-day vacation package somewhere. What was once one of my favorite hotel chains quickly fell into one of my most disliked. What a shame.

If I could give a zero I would. The Rodeway in in Vancouver Washington is so scandalous. I went through hotels.com and chose to pay at the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel to pay the Indian guy that owns the hotel said he gave my rooms away. He said he ran my card that morning and it declined. All I had to do was transfer the money from one account to another. He didn’t wait till I got to the hotel like the website says. I ended up getting a room at Motel 6 which seems to be an upgrade from Rodeway inn.
