Cimarron

Cimarron, NM. Checker went out of his way to pack items well. Other employee took my items that I bought out to the car and placed them nicely. Then she offered to also put my walker in the car. Now I call that going the extra mile.

I visit the store at 5043 N Crescent…

I visit the store at 5043 N Crescent Blvd Pennsauken NJ 08110 and the employees there are great. However, due to recent closing of nearby Family Dollar Stores there have been a significant increase in theft. The employees are not equipped nor are they security guards to handle the amount of thefts and disrespect that they face constantly and it’s not fair to the customers who do pay for every item they purchase. My suggestion is to hire at least a security guard and/or a buzzer to allow customers to exit with the click of a button therefore stopping the thieves before they exit the store. There is not enough staffing to take care of honest paying customers and to catch people who steals.

Miracle at 3222 Salem Avenue

I have been one of this discount retail chain's strongest critics due to several disappointing personal shopping experiences. I admit here and now that I stand corrected and readjusted due to an unplanned visit to the Family Dollar store at 3222 Salem Avenue in Dayton Ohio. I recently moved to the 'College Hill' District and had forgotten some important items at my regular Big Box retail store and I didn't feel like traveling across town again that evening, so as I was headed from my house, I saw a Family Dollar store that was well within walking distance from my house so, I went in to check it out. I have to be honest, I was checking to see whether my harsh opinion and dim view of the brand from past experiences was still appropriate. Just as I walked through the door, a cheerful, "Good Evening! Welcome to Family Dollar!" drifted into my consciousness. My eyes found the voice and face that gave the greeting and it was a Family Dollar employee at the checkout cash register. The young lady was still smiling at me when our eyes met. I was more shocked than surprised at the happiness she that her voice emoted. The store was bright and, although there were a lot of people waiting to checkout, no one looked agitated or impatient. Each customer I the line was either chatting among themselves, or with other customers. The cashier was working at a my moderate pace, and her smile was ever present as she scanned the items purchased and chatted with those still waiting. She was in control yet she seemed to be enjoying her work. I had seen lines in other stores with far more angry people in smaller lines facing off with nonchalant, and sometimes, even bellicose checkout cashiers. I approached the shopping cart corral. There were three or four clean, empty carts whose wheels rolled smoothly without any uneven bumpy, shaky rolling around the store. The store was clean and each area announced its offerings with aromas and colors commensurate with features and promotions. The prices were great and I easily found the items I needed. Shelves were NEATLY arranged, blocked and capped with freshly stocked products. There were no cans or debris in the aisles, or lying in the paths where the carts rolled. As I turned the corner a young thirty-something'ish', African American man sneezed as approached him. He looked at me, covering his mouth with a handkerchief, and simultaneously spoke to me while he apologized for the sneezing, he mentioned that the dust generated from the opening of the cardboard boxes aggravated his allergies. I responded that it was Ragweed season because both my son and daughter had allergies as well. He welcomed me to the store and I surmised by his way of communication and professional, though amicable interaction with me that he was either Manager of the store, or Assistant Manager. The Cashier's voice requested assistance and when he immediately craned his neck toward the front, that confirmed that he was the store manager. In the next aisle I saw another young man stocking shelves. Both men had opened and unopened boxes in their aisle, yet there was plenty room for shopping carts and people to easily get past the men and boxes. The floors reflected light clearly and bore signs of regular floor maintenance. At that point, I stopped comparing THIS store with the less than perfect past Family Dollar shopping experiences. Observing the happy shoppers sauntering through on this first Friday evening in October, I was happy also to finally behold what I believed to be one of the Family Dollar locations that epitomized the vision of those who originated the concept, promote the brand and operate the chain. The staff apparently appreciated the customers and though there were smiles and laughter from joking, their deep respect for the shoppers was evident in each. If there was one thing that was disappointing to me, it was when the announcement that the store was closing in thirty minutes, I couldn't believe that my 'fifteen minute 'pop-in and out' trip had lasted more than an hour. This wasn't due to slow staff, hard to find, or sold out items and/or because of the non customers, that are 'casing the joint', soon to become shoplifters' hanging around the store. No! It was because I enjoyed the great feeing of finally experiencing a cheerful, very well managed, Customer Centric TEAM run Family Dollar store! In fact, I returned to shop again the next day too! So, Here's to Family Dollar at 3222 Salem Avenue, The employees are just wonderful! The store is clean from the top to down under Everyday they're keeping it 💯!
