Don't dismiss him too much. If he's talking about the Q990 series I see what he's saying. I have a full 9.2.4 Klipsch system powered by an Onkyo RZ-50, Dirac tuned, in my living room, and a Samsung Q990C system I decided to test due to all the good reviews.

I have not hooked up back my Klipsch system for almost a year now (mainly due to time constraints), but another reason is that the Q990C sounds so good. It truly is a decent replacement as a home theater system giving about 80% the quality of my full system but with only 10% effort to setup, being everything is wireless.

I do miss my full system, especially for music, and the deep bass and clarity of the 13 speakers, but what a pain to run the wires and hooking up of amplifiers and running room correction software.

I paid about $700 for the Samsung Q990C at the time and the current Q990D can be had on sale now for the same price. I, too, would recommend it at that price for just an ordinary person shopping for a decent home theater system, who doesn't want to spend hours or days setting up a full AVR driven system.

I've been using and setting up home theater systems for myself and others for almost 40 years now, and when a lay person ask me for home theater recommendations now and they're on a budget and not looking for a complicated system to setup or maintain, I steer them towards good, powerful soundbar systems like this higher end Samsung, JBL, Vizio, Nakamishi and others. It just makes more sense for people not like us who are enthusiasts and looking for that last 1% sound we can't live without.

Don't knock these soundbars till you hear them yourselves. As the saying goes, these are not your dad's or grandfather's soundbars. They've come a long way, and they can't be beat for a balance between sound, budget and convenience.
