The refrigerator in our home stopped cooling. I put in a service call to AHS The chosen company assigned to our zip code contacted me and we got on their busy schedule. In 2 weeks the technician came and told me diagnosis. Then another company technician came to double check the issues were more expensive to fix . He recommended to get a replacement refrigerator. Sure enough AHS purchasing department informed me that we can get a gift card to Lowes for replacement. They did thank you !

My experience was very good with the service tech and he was able to identify the problem, ordered the part needed to fix our dryer and said if there were any problems with it, that he would come back out to fix it.

Painlessly scheduled a claim online. This was vital as I’ve made claims before and ended up having to call their customer service department which is awful (I’ll discuss that at the end). The contractor promptly came and AHS is paying for a replacement water heater which will be done in a few days. Unfortunately, I’m still paying $1219 for “uncovered costs” (plus the $125 deductible) to meet code for the installation so I’m paying more than AHS is for my “covered” water heater replacement. I understand they can’t cover EVERYTHING, but that amount seems excessive. On a previous claim for a broken fridge I had to call the CS dept which is overseas (India). Most are very difficult to understand, they have almost zero authority to make decisions and take a ridiculously long time to get your questions answered most likely because they have to contact their manager who then contacts a customer service rep/manager in the US which has a phone number unknown to the public because there are so few of them (they “saved” money by outsourcing CSRs). Be prepared to be on hold most of the call which will be a long one and may require several calls. It took me MONTHS to get a refrigerator replaced (and over half a dozen 20-30 minute calls to the CS dept) due to a clerical error on AHS’s part for which I had no choice but to deal with CSRs. Ultimately I had to call the service tech who inspected my fridge to get involved and he resolved the issue almost immediately because he dealt directly with US-based AHS reps who were able to sort things out within minutes. I continue to stay with AHS, but if I have one more bad experience with an overseas CSR, that’ll be the last time I buy AHS home insurance.
