They forced me to purchase my extra baggage at the counter, and I ended up paying almost the price of a new ticket for just 12 kg, as their website and app did not allow me to pre-purchase my extra luggage. They are refusing a refund for the price difference.. unbelievable.

Additionally, the food was subpar, and overall, it was not the experience I had imagined when flying with them.

Fraudulently Called a "No Show"

Subject: Urgent: Request for Refund or Rebooking Due to Check-in Issue – Business Class Ticket

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the experience I encountered with Qatar Airways on my recent travel attempt on 04/23/2025. I booked a business class ticket through JustFly back in January, excited to fly with the highly recommended Qatar Airways based on glowing recommendations from friends.
I reside approximately 45min to 1 hour from the airport (with traffic) and left my home at 3:45 PM to ensure timely arrival. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen traffic delays, I arrived at the airport at 6:10 PM for a 7:30 PM flight. I understand airline policies, but with over an hour to spare, I expected a smoother check-in process, especially as a business class passenger.
Despite the check-in agents stating that the system had closed as passengers were boarding, they accepted and processed two of my bags. I had one additional bag for which I needed to pay. However, the payment system repeatedly declined my card, even though I showed proof of sufficient funds on my account. After multiple failed attempts, my bank flagged my card for fraud due to the repeated swipes.
To resolve this, I quickly transferred funds to my friend’s card, which was also declined by the same system. At this point, it was evident that the issue lay with their payment system, not with our finances.
What hurt me most was the lack of compassion and professionalism from one of the staff—a white/Caucasian woman at the desk—who showed no regard for my situation despite my explanation and visible distress. I pleaded for understanding, reminding her that I had paid for a premium ticket. Her indifference was disheartening.
The experience I endured was not only unprofessional—it was inhumane.
I am not willing to pay additional fees to rebook a flight that I never boarded due to failures in their payment system and staff's lack of support. I respectfully demand:
• A full refund, or
• A rebooking on the next available Qatar Airways flight at no additional cost.

I hope Qatar Airways will uphold its reputation for excellence and customer service by addressing this matter with the urgency and fairness it deserves.

Atrocious

I don’t know how they still stay in business with the most incompetent and incapable staff they have sitting in the customer care team. My mother has been trying to go back and forth with them for 4 weeks for a booking she tried to cancel within 2 hours of making it. It states very clearly on their website as do all other airlines, you can cancel free of charge within 24 hours. The agents have been trying to change the policy and stating that it stated on the booking page before booking that it’s non-refundable- however when questioning where, it states this information, they say it’s not available but only available before the booking page.

It’s atrocious that the Seniors of this company are allowing their staff to miguide customers like this. It’s been 2 weeks I have been promised a “call listening” and resolution.

They try their very best to avoid customers executing their right of being eligible to cancel a booking within 24 hours and I am now seeking to escalate this externally as they need to stop getting away with this.

If you wish to resolve this before escalation, come back to me about the booking: BR: J4PZRJ and refund me my ticket which I requested a cancellation and refund for 2 hours after booking!! 2 Weeks later, still not done

dishonest staff

I traveled with this airline in September 3 2023
for a flight from Toulouse to Phuket with a stopover in Doha.
Very disappointed with my cabin for the Toulouse to Doha flight. No working USB port or Wi-Fi, and the cabin was outdated.
I forgot my tablet next to my seat in my business class area.
I noticed it two hours later on my second flight to Phuket. There's nothing to complain about. The Q suite is very good.
So I immediately filed a complaint and contacted Qatar service, who told me they hadn't found anything. It's strange because access to business class is quite unusual.
A few days ago, I received an email, here's a copy.
This confirms what I thought: my tablet was stolen by a Qatar employee. It's truly unacceptable.
I forwarded this email to Qatar a week ago and received no response.
Really disappointed.
the email
Hey, good evening dear Say or Madam please I bought this device from one Charity organization in Qatar 🇶🇦 so I find out that you have your account lock on the device which indicate that you need your device back so please I just want to let you know I have your device with me currently so if you need the device, I can send you the bill how much I bought it then you give me the amount then I send your device to you or else Let me know if possible you can open the device for me and if maybe you need an extra cost then you can let me know if I can pay for it or not then I see what to do. Thank you very much

Descrimination

We have had a very disappointing experience with Qatar Airways on the flight from London to Colombo via Doha on 1st of April.

We chose Qatar as we were told they were one of the best. As a frequent traveller, I decided to change from our regular company. We were 4 adults and two children from United Kingdom.
The list of complaints is long, but the biggest issue seems to be that they do not even bother to deal with our complaints. I have completed the forms but, unfortunately, they have a terrible customer care.
Fist part of the flight was perfectly fine with a normal service for a standard company.
Unfortunately, everything changed on the flight to Colombo.
Terrible old plane, rude service from check-in and crew onboard. We noticed different approach on the care with no European passengers which is a form of the discrimination for Sri Lankan nationals who travelled with us on the same plane.

The food was bad, the seats were old and uncomfortable, the entertainment was not working in all the plane and there was rubbish everywhere. On the return flight, they lost part of the baby buggy so I could go on and on but the only way to make any difference is to never fly with them again until Qatar Airways change his policies.

Terrible old plane and incapable crew

Terrible old plane, terrible service from check-in staff and crew onboard.

At check-in in Hong Kong, staff were so incapable. We are Emerald and Sapphire One World members, but staff pushed us to economy check in. Which is fine, but they let another passenger waiting behind us check-in before us, but in the First class queue which we should have been entitled.

Then theh took over 30 mins to check us in, by which point we were the only ones still in the check-in area. This was exhausting as we were holding a sleeping child, and were exhausted from another overnight flight earlier that day. We kept asking why it was taking so long to check-in, they said it was because they were arranging lounge passes and a buggy to the lounge. The check in staff kept calling another member of staff over to help, so perhaps he was an intern or someone very inexperienced and incapable. Finally after we managed to check in, we realised they had not given us the buggy passes, and told us the wrong location for the lounge! We had to walk a long way with 2 kids, and when we finally reached the lounge, they were calling final call 30 mins before the flight so we never got to use the lounge.

When we got onto the plane, the overhead cabin for our baggage was already full. We had paid for front row, so no space under our seats either. The plane was so old, and when I sat down, my arm rest fell off instantly. They used some tape but it covered my tray table. When they got my table out for food service, the tape stopped working and my arm rest was hanging off for the rest of the flight.

Then they got upset because we used an inflatable pillow, and tried to put it over the arm rest to stop me cutting myself from the sharp edges. They offered no pillow or any other seat, and expected to fly overnight with a sharp armrest that could cut me if I rested my arm on it accidentally while I tried to sleep. They said the use of inflatables was banned on their website, but we did not see it. We asked to see the rule, but they could not show us the policy, claiming that there was no WiFi or any way to show their website or their company rules. We told them sorry, but we don’t believe them as they had got so many things wrong. We were allowed to use the inflatable pillow on our other flight that morning, do not see the problem. But we deflated the pillow. Then they kept coming to wake us up or interrupting our movie to ask random questions, and kept asking us about our flight experience. I told them I don’t want to keep re-living the bad experience over and over by telling them, but one of the crew said he was the manager and wanted to make a note and will show me at the end of the flight that they had filed a complaint to the airline. He kept coming over but was not doing a thing, he never showed me the complaint like he said he would, just kept bugging me about various things. Another female crew member came up to ask about my flight, claiming she was in fact the manager. I am used to being asked about my flight by crew as a top tiered member, but at this point I had explained many times that I was having a bad flight and asked them to leave me alone, as I was being interrupted all night long, interrupting my sleep, my movie, and I had already told them many times I was having a terrible flight but they refused to do a thing, so please leave me alone. Clearly they had no coordination with the crew members. The staff did not even seem to understand their role or even who was the manager that night. Food was dreadful, didn’t eat it, and despite telling them we didn’t want it, they kept waking me up for food service anyway. For breakfast, they gave the kids a sweet muffin, Kit Kat and an apple juice for example. All sugar.

I would never recommend this airline to anyone, and hope you never have to experience such terrible crew, old plane, or customer experience.

Cancelled honeymoon. Avoid at all costs

RAB 4F7

Booked our honeymoon through Loveholidays on the 4 April 2025.
On booking my partner post dated her passport into what would be our married name all legal and above board however, my partner used her maiden name by mistake to book our honeymoon (a typo error) we spotted this straight away and contacted love holidays who told us that Qatar Airways required proof of passport which we had, sent them a copy however, they also requested proof of a marriage certificate which we couldn’t produce as we don’t get married until the 10th May and we were flying out married on the 13 May with Qatar Airways.

What a nightmare!!! we have had with no help at all from Qatar Airways nor love holidays. Qatar insisting on a marriage certificate which we don’t have. The only option Qatar suggested is to cancel our honeymoon and rebook at a loss to us of £1232.15. Got my partner in tears as we were forced to cancel and cant now afford our honeymoon thanks to Qatar Airways.

Apparently Qatar airways policy is they do not allow name changes once the flight has been confirmed.
Also name changes require official documentation, such as a marriage certificate, to process any amendments.

We produced to Qatar Airways a passport with the correct name on it and we also produced a PD2 signed by a marriage registrar all legal and above board to be able to travel from the 10 May 2025 after we got married. How could we produce a marriage certificate that you were insisting on? A marriage certificate cannot be produced since the law changed in May 2021 for 6 weeks after the marriage.

My question to Qatar Airway is:
If we can cancel like you requested and rebook in the correct name and we still don’t have a marriage certificate (which you are constantly requesting)why simply couldn’t the name change be done in the first place.

Qatar Airways have ruined our honeymoon and people need to think twice before booking with them. Shame on you Qatar Airways.

At 2:50 they only said next update will be at 4:00am NO reason no water and terrible service!!
My train ticket from Roma- Siena leaves 1h 30 min after landing and the €42 is wasted now- no chance that Qatar Airline will apologise or refund the train ticket.

It would be nice to think Qatar read…

It would be nice to think Qatar read the reviews and act on them, but that's dreaming.

Edinburgh Airport check in experience; turned up at the web check in bag drop queue. However this queue is next to the business class queue and as long as there are people in the biz class queue they won't serve ANY passengers in the web check in queue. What followed was a 45 minute wait with only 5 groups of people in front. Meantime the normal check in queue moved quickly. This is in part down to the awful Swissport staff who are constantly bad. The lady in front of me who had been stood there carrying a baby eventually got to the front of the queue, staff just not interested in calling people forward, when she moved forward she was stopped by the staff and told to wait - a business class passenger had just walked into the business class line (about 20 meters away from the desk) - they didn't even have the sense or empathy or compassion to check her in - the biz class passenger wasn't even near the desk. Next time don't use the bag drop queue, and QR need to sack the consistently awful Swissport staff.

Lack of transparency and hidden cancellation fees – very disappointing!

I booked flights for myself and my family with Qatar Airways. Later, I received an email informing me that the return flight was rescheduled by one hour. The email gave me the option to accept or decline the change.

I chose to decline, assuming I would receive a full refund since the change was initiated by the airline. At no point during the process was I told that cancellation fees would be applied.

However, I was later shocked to receive an email confirming that fees were deducted for every family member!

When I contacted customer service, they explained that cancellation fees apply if the schedule change is less than two hours. But why wasn’t this made clear when I declined the change? This lack of transparency feels deceptive.

To make matters worse, they have no physical office in the UAE, making follow-up even more difficult.

Overall, a frustrating and unfair experience. I strongly advise travelers to double-check the fine print and cancellation terms before booking with Qatar Airways

Family of four flying London to…

Family of four flying London to Adelaide return, on the return leg combined weight of luggage was a total of under 60kg with allowance over 80kg, customer advisor said one of our 3 cases was 25kg so would have to pay for excess baggage. We had to remove stuff from that case and put in the 3rd case we had which made no difference to the overall weight as we were way under. Complete stupidity in a busy line sort it out and use some common sense!

No better than thieves

I paid a premium to select seats for our 4 long haul flights so I, my wife and children (7&3) would definitely be seated together. The booking was made 10 months ago and the seats nearly all selectable at the time.

QA changed my seat selections so I no longer had our family together on a row, put my 3 year old on a different row sandwiched between strangers until another passenger took pity and helped by moving.

They "cancelled" one of our flights so delayed our 2nd leg flight home. We watched this plane take off so it definitely wasn't cancelled! This also messed up our seat selection on for that leg of the journey meaning I was sat behind not adjacent to my children.

I've raised this with them and they are refusing to refund my seat selection fees because "my seat types were the same as what I'd chosen".

It is disgusting that you end up paying hundreds just to sit with your young children but then to not even get it and have QA pocket the money is an absolute abomination.

Horrible Customer Serivce

The airlines canceled my flight without giving a clear reason. I was to fly March 19th and today is April 18th. I have been trying to get refunded on the canceled flight due to their issues. The earliest date they could get me out would have been 3 days from the day they canceled the flight. This would have been too late due to missing the Persian New Celebrations. I have been trying to get refunded and still have not resolved this issue. Their customer support employees tell me they will call me back but never do. They said they will have the refund credited back to my account in 48 hours. That still has not happened and it has been 5 days since I was told that. Trying to get anyone who will do anything to resolve this matter is impossible. I do not suggest anyone to fly with Qatar.

Qatar Airways Damaged My Luggage and No response to My Claim

I traveled with Qatar Airways from Pakistan to France on July 10, 2024, and received my luggage severely damaged upon arrival at CDG Airport, Paris — the wheels were broken, and there were deep cracks and scrapes all over the suitcase's body.

I immediately reported the issue at the Qatar Airways baggage desk at CDG and was given a complaint file number to follow up. For weeks, I received no response. Eventually, I was asked to submit additional documentation, including photos of the damaged luggage, which I sent promptly.

After reviewing the damage, Qatar Airways confirmed that the luggage was beyond repair and I was told a replacement bag would be provided. I waited until December 2024, but nothing arrived. At that point, I asked for monetary compensation instead and sent the required form on the same day it was requested.

Since then, I have received no updates. I have contacted Qatar Airways multiple times — by phone (customer support in Paris), online chat, and several emails — yet no resolution or even a reply has been provided.
This is a shameful and deeply unprofessional way of handling a simple baggage claim. According to aviation rules and regulations, such claims should be resolved within 3 months — it has now been over 10 months, and I am still waiting.

For an airline that claims to offer world-class service, Qatar Airways has shown a complete lack of accountability, communication, and respect for its customers. This experience has caused me not only inconvenience but also a serious loss of trust in the brand.
