We ordered the National Parks Floor Puzzle for our grandchildren and we all couldn’t be happier ! Firstly, it was delivered in a timely manner , as were other products that we previously ordered. Secondly, the pieces were bigger than other puzzles and very sturdy. We’ll all be putting this one together over the years to come !

Like many other reviewers, I accidentally clicked through and placed an order to the wrong address. I tried emailing right away, calling (they're closed), and seeing if I could cancel online. Website says no cancellation so I will see what customer service says and will update the rating if they provide support

National Parks floor puzzle

We ordered the National Parks Floor Puzzle for our grandchildren and we all couldn’t be happier ! Firstly, it was delivered in a timely manner , as were other products that we previously ordered. Secondly, the pieces were bigger than other puzzles and very sturdy. We’ll all be putting this one together over the years to come !

Bought a police dress up item for our 3…

Bought a police dress up item for our 3 year old son. Had assumed Melissa and Doug item would be good quality but noticed a big hole in the pocket after a few hours wear. No response from their customer service via Amazon. Disappointing.

No cancellation, even seconds after placing order

Like many other reviewers, I accidentally clicked through and placed an order to the wrong address. I tried emailing right away, calling (they're closed), and seeing if I could cancel online. I would give a -5 star review if I…

I would give a -5 star review if I could. I made a purchase and with in five minutes called to cancel as I found it for less. I was told they couldn’t cancel it. How ridiculous is that. I’ve had buyer’s remorse in the past with very good outcomes of the order I placed being cancelled. 😡 I will never buy from this company again.

Customer service is awful

Customer service is awful. I accidently clicked through and never saw shipping address. Immediately emailed and contacted them to change the address as it was going to the wrong address and they said to bad.

Purchased lady bug flashlight for…

Purchased lady bug flashlight for Granddaughter--ordered in April for November birthday--I did have it personalized but when we opened it---it didnt work---tried 2 different kinds of brand new batteries but still wouldnt work--I was told guarentee only good for 30 days so I guess don't shop early--Company says 100% satisfied or money back--I wasnt expecting money back since i had it personalized but was only offered free shipping and pay for new one--I thought Melissa and Doug stood by their products--could have at least offered free shipping or new one w/out personalization---something would have been nice--Dont know if I will buy from Melissa & Doug again and certainly wont order anything personalized....

Update on this review, to my very pleasant SURPRISE I received a new flashlight which works and it came personalized--my granddaughter was so excited--Melissa & Doug have restored my faith in this company--Thank you so much

DO NOT buy fold & Go barn

Extremely poor quality. Splintering wood all over the barn , chipped paint, looks dreadful, even the handle which shouldn't have paint on it has paint finger marks, probably done by a preschooler.. I reached out to Melissa and Doug via FB and they were exceptionally rude telling me postage wasn't available... well how did I buy it in the first place ?! I live in Australia not the Antarctic. Will not purchase from them again

Train set needs re-designed

Purchased a $150.00 train set the our grandchild. This toy needs to be completely re-designed. You cannot touch this set to play with it as it will immediately fall apart. All I hear from my grandchild is "My train is broken". A complete waste of money and a great disappointment for the child as it falls apart as soon as she touches it to play with it.

I love their toys. Hate their customer service, return process and lack of response.

If you don't think you'll ever need to return an item - then Melissa and Doug is great! However, I purchased two toys for my son's first birthday and he ended up receiving the exact same toys from a family member. When I called to return (yes, called ...they don't make it easy. You need a authorization number), I was informed I had to pay the fees to ship back... well since they are wooden toys and quite large, the cost to ship back was about a 1/3 of the total amount for the toys, but I thought a small refund was better than nothing. I shipped the products back well over a month ago and never received an email saying "we've received your return, expect your refund in X number of days." So I waited. Two weeks after it arrived at their returns department, I reached out to their customer service via their Care@ email and provided my return authorization number. A couple days later I received a response that said, we are looking into it but nothing helpful. They had asked for my tracking number which I provided them the same day. Crickets since then. That was almost three weeks ago (from their email, not from when I shipped it back).I just sent another email hoping to hear back but I won't hold my breath. At this rate, I should have kept the extra toys and donated them.

Pissed! Zero stars!

On December 1, 2023, I placed an order on your website for pizza and grill play set for my 5 year old for Christmas. At the time of order, the item was in stock. I placed my order, received a confirmation email and order number, and the funds were taken from my bank account. The email also stated that the order would be shipped in 3-5 business days. On Dec 7, I still had not received any other correspondence, so I emailed the customer care email provided on the website and my order confirmation email. No, Dec 11, I still had not heard anything in regard to my order, so I searched and called the customer service number I could found on the website. I spoke with a gentleman who said he would have to look into it and someone would be in touch with me. Less than 5 minutes later, I received an email from Patricia that was the worst form of customer service I have ever witnessed. 1 line stating, “unfortunately the item you ordered is on back order until early January 2024. Regards, Patricia”. The lack of customer service is quite honestly offensive. Could you care about your customers any less? Moving forward, I immediately called the customer care line again and spoke with a lady who was pleasant and told me she would get a supervisor for me when I explained the situation. Dillon (no last name or associate ID number) who stated he was the only Dillon informed me that sometimes the system lags and items are ordered that can’t be filled and the only thing he could offer me is an apology and a refund. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he stated that he had no supervisor and there was no one above him. This entire situation is completely unacceptable. It has been 10 days and I still hadn’t been notified anything was even wrong with the order. Let alone that I’m now not able to receive it at all! Christmas is in 2 weeks and I have a 5 year old who literally only asked for this play set. I ordered on time when your website showed that it was in stock! You charged me, sent me a confirmation email, and gave me an order number with a 3-5 day shipping confirmation! To say I am mad would be an understatement. And then to be told there is nothing you can do when it is YOUR company’s fault! I have now wasted 2 weeks thinking that this play set was going to be here and now I’m facing the inability to even order from somewhere else due to shipping delays! This has been the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever witnessed first hand. Totally and completely unacceptable!

The toys might be good but

The toys might be good, I can’t judge, but their customer service is non-existent. I have emailed twice for some product information and had no response to my question or even an acknowledgment. Wouldn’t want to deal with them, or the lack of, if I had a problem after ordering. I shall spend my money elsewhere with a company who have responded!

Toys are great but customer service…

Toys are great but customer service sucks. Missing parts in a toy and told they can’t replace even though they are literally missing from new, Making it false advertising. Never had this problem with any other toy company. Missing pieces happen but ALL other companies have sent replacements with no issues.
Have a very upset little girl that she doesn’t have the whole set listed on the box

I have purchased Melissa and Doug toys…

I have purchased Melissa and Doug toys for years as a pediatric occupational therapist and now for my toddler son. He lost a part to a toy recently and I reached out to customer service asking to purchase a replacement part and received a really generic and condescending response about how they are unable to replace everyone’s lost pieces. I think it’s ridiculous that a large toy manufacturer can’t provide an option to purchase a lost part from their toys. I have reached out in the past to other small and large toy manufacturers and have always had an amazing response. All but one have provided parts free of charge and one for a fee, which I have never minded paying. Melissa and Doug needs to step up their game. I will not be purchasing from them again. Aside from all of this, I’ve seen their toy quality go down in recent years as well.

No response to emails/queries on purchased goods

The toys are mainly good, but the customer service is non existent and it really lets them down.

We purchased the fishing game for our daughter for Christmas, when she opened and used it it wasn’t like the picture and advertisement at all. The string was so short that not even our two year old could stand to play, despite the children in the advert being a lot bigger/older. The wheel to spin also advertised an extra number to what we had, they have clearly updated the design at some point but not bothered to change the photos and main advertisement of the product so you aren’t getting what you expect and not for the better.

I tried to email them politely mentioning the differences and that it wasn’t quite as good as it seemed, based on the fact you have to sit really close but this was at Christmas and Ive not heard anything back I’m really disappointed that they couldn’t respond in any way. I went via their website to contact them so they would certainly have received my message.

The majority of their products are good (from what we’ve seen so far) but poor customer service let’s them down, I’m very hesitant to purchase anymore items as if we have any issues I know they will ignore them!

Poor customer service experience … shame as toys are lovely!

Really sarcastic tone in an email to a customer.
My nonverbal, autistic son lost a piece from an Icecream set. I emailed to ask about spare parts. Was told they can’t “magically” replace toys that are lost.
Obtaining a spare part shouldn’t be this hard for a toy manufacturer. Other toy manufacturers have always been very helpful in my pay experiences eg Lego, Knext etc.
No Christmas cheer in the Melissa and Doug offices obviously!!!

Don't Buy From Them!

Purchased two dolls for my grandchildren for Christmas in early November. Received the products on November 15 and they were not to my liking so I returned them the exact same day. It is now December 21, 2022 and still NO REFUND! I have called a handful of times to be told I have to wait 30 days to receive my credit. Well it has been more than 30 days and still no credit as of this morning, December 21st when I contacted our bank. They have no problem taking your money OUT of your account for the purchase but good luck getting it back. ONE STAR RATING from us!

Worst Toy Manufacturer in the Market

Terrible customer service for terrible quality toys. The paint from their wooden toys easily flakes and rubs off. I was alarmed when I wiped the toys down for the first time using paper towel and water. Called their customer service line and they said to send them photos, which I then never heard back from. To return, you have to mail the products to their warehouse yourself and write the "return number" in a slip of paper when you pack. I don't want to donate the toys as I don't want some poor child getting paint on their hands...perhaps use the toys as firewood?
